We’ve all been there. We know we need to make better choices with our diets, so we finally give in to the little inside nagging voice and make that choice to intentionally live a healthy life. Empowered, we decide we will take care of this precious body God has gifted us. We steer our bodies towards a brigher tomorrow.
The star of the new healthy diet is…….drum roll……. the SALAD! We load it with greens and veggies galore, seeds and nuts, cottage cheese and more! Then, secretly, unknowingly, we sabotage our diet with the villanous bad guy……the dressing.
It’s easily over-looked in its food qualities such as fat content and sugar content. Most just blindly assume it can’t be that bad, and since salad is synonymous with dressing, they happily pour away, loading their once healthy lunch with harmful nutrients. Even if you have tried to make a healthier choice, most likely you’ve chosen one laden with sugars thus negating all of the supposed healthy benefits of that particular topping.
*Trumpet call..dun dun dun duuuuuuuuunnnnn…* enter center stage: Tangy Yogurt Lime Sugar Free Salad Dressing (crowd roars.) This salad dressing is just the perfect amount of creamy and tangy, an elegant, sophistated enhancement to the famous healthy salad. And it’s a food choice you won’t later regret.
It’s super easy and quick to make as well, and it lasts for weeks in your refrigerator (that is, if you don’t eat it all immediately because it’s so yummy.) What makes it even better is if you can use fresh dill from your garden and homemade yogurt from your cow’s raw milk, but the store bought dill and sugar free yogurt will work just fine:).

TANGY YOGURT LIME SUGAR FREE SALAD DRESSING
- 1 CUP PLAIN OR GREEK YOGURT
- 1/8 CUP RICE WINE VINEGAR OR OTHER ORGANIC WHITE VINEGAR (LEMON JUICE WILL WORK AS WELL)
- 1 TBSP DILL WEED FROM JAR OR 2 TBSP FRESH, CHOPPED FINELY
- 1/2 TSP SALT (YOU MAY NEED MORE, BUT START HERE)
- 1 TSP GARLIC POWDER
- 1 LIME
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together yogurt and vinegar until it’s smooth. Add dill, salt, galic powder and the juice of 1 lime. Season with more salt if it’s needed. If you want it thicker, add more yogurt. If it’s too thick, add more vinegar until it is the consistency you desire.
